4.2.2010 - 2010 the Start of a WINNING DECADE
The past couple of years of the last decade have been more challenging than most for many businesses in NZ. Economic recessions, weather events, finance company collapses amongst other things have all had their effect with business retrenchment and staff layoffs being a common theme.
At Baytex we have also had our challenges but thanks to a fantastic team effort both here and in Australia we have come through relatively unscathed. Richard Matchett, our man in Amsterdam is doing a tremendous job for us in Europe with new opportunities emerging by the month. On a sobering note, we are only now starting to see small improvements in our badly decimated US market.
While the past decade has been about setting the stage, this decade is full of the opportunities that will flow from a comprehensive range of versatile, quality products.
This decade will continue to see us invest heavily in product design, manufacturing resources, market development and staff training. As we build our resource base we will be making a greater commitment to customer support and training especially through web based applications.
With of a number of large events ahead of us, culminating in the 2011 Rugby World Cup, the next several years are going to be exciting and prosperous for the industry. Can we all lift our game to that same level of performance we are expecting of the All Blacks? At Baytex we will be doing our bit!
