4.3.2010 - New plotter cutter will boost productivity says Baytex Production Manager
Mike Hope, Baytex's Production Manager expects at least a 20% increase in productivity once the new plotter is up and running, saying "when we have the new plotter running at full capacity, it will run up to 4 times faster than our old plotter. This will increase the average work rate from staff, and will ultimately increase our productivity".
Aeronaut Manufacturing based in Sydney, Australia, supplied the Elektron plotter cutter. Baytex chose the Elektron plotter cutter to increase accuracy, minimise waste, and save time. The newest feature is a fabric feeding system that grips onto the fabric and pulls it evenly onto the table, ready for cutting.
Compared to the old plotter where the fabric was manually pulled flat, which took around 1 minute once the PVC was aligned. With the new plotter, this will be fully automatic, operated entirely by one operator saving time and resources.
Another great feature are the easy interchangeable tools. The old plotter was limited to 3 tools, the pen, the blade and the 28mm cutter. The new plotter holds 18, 28 and 45 mm cutting blades, drag blade, pen and laser pointer giving double the amount of tools compared to the old plotter.
With all of these great features, we are anticipating a great return on investment and hope to have the new plotter fully operational in the next few weeks.
