From simple canvas tents to global innovators of fabric structures and marquees: The Baytex journey
Founded in 1969 as Bay Textiles Ltd, Baytex began as a canvas tent company and soon expanded into marquee manufacturing, exporting innovative designs worldwide. From pioneering the Clipframe Marquee System in the 1980s to introducing award-winning models like the Fete and Springtop, our history is marked by continuous improvement and global reach.
Today, Baytex operates from a purpose-built 2,500 sq. metre factory in Tauranga, New Zealand. Our premises are fully equipped to handle a wide range of technical fabrics, from the lightest polyesters to the heaviest PVCs and canvases.
Baytex is equipped with a comprehensive range of modern sewing machinery, powerful high-frequency welders, and a state-of-the-art, wide-beam, multi-head plotter/cutter. Our in-house design capabilities are supported by an advanced 3D CAD system with form-finding and pattern-generating features. The team includes 20 full-time staff, with more than 14 highly skilled production staff dedicated to delivering precision and quality in every project
