Baytex continues to design, manufacture and sell an extensive range of high quality commercial canopies, marquees, linings and fabric structures.   The company is renowned for its innovative designs and quality finish.  It keeps up to date with a leading edge design team, state-of-the art production technology, and a dedicated and highly qualified production team.

Baytex becomes a division of Structurflex Limited

Baytex was approached by Canopy Camping with a concept for Glamping Tents. Since this time Baytex has designed, developed and refined 5 models.

Developed Fete peaked roof marquee

Began exporting to UK & Europe

Baytex Australia formed is a wholly owned subsidiary

Established Baytex USA as an independent company in partnership with Spencer Etzel and the SEC Sales Group

Established Baytex USA as an independent company in partnership with Spencer Etzel and the SEC Sales Group.

1993

Resulting from the success of the Baytex Linings range a Baytex USA sales office was established expressly for the purpose of selling Tent Liners into the US market.

1992

The Electron Pole marquee was developed.

1991

The Tankard family sold Bay Textiles Ltd to Spencer and Wendy Tankard and Baytex Manufacturing Co Ltd was formed, specialising in the design and manufacture of large tents, marquees, marquee linings and related products for the rental industry.

1986

The Clipframe Marquee Frame System invented and patented. The Clipframe marquee continues to be a cornerstone of the Baytex product range.

Marquee Linings were introduced into the product range

1982

The Baytex Marquee range became so successful that the products attracted demand internationally. Export sales to Australia began.

1977

A Marquee Hire division was formed, and continued to operate until 1990.

Bay Textiles began designing and manufacturing marquees for their own needs and for the wider NZ party rental industry.

1976

Spencer Tankard joined the family business Bay Textiles Ltd as Managing Director

At this time Bay Textiles Ltd manufactured a wide range of canvas products including: camping tents, caravan awnings, boat covers, trampolines and inflatable boats.
