Background
Following the success of a custom permanent wedding venue tent delivered by Baytex for Old Broadwater Farm in Busselton in 2014, Stewart Dickins, General Manager of Credaro Wines in Margaret River, approached Baytex with a new vision. The objective: to design and construct a high-quality, permanent wedding and event venue on the Credaro Wines Estate — a structure that would blend architectural elegance with durability and meet strict regional engineering standards.
The Challenge
While the proven Baytex Alispan tent system would have typically been used as the basis for such a project, the unique site and regional compliance requirements necessitated an entirely new design. Local engineering codes required structural adaptations that exceeded the specifications of standard systems, making it clear that a bespoke solution was needed.
Our Solution: The Birth of the Baytex Alimax
Baytex’s design team embraced the challenge and developed a completely new tent structure specifically engineered for permanent installation at the Credaro site.
Key innovations included:
- A composite rafter design (252mm x 110mm) engineered to deliver the necessary strength and compliance.
- Utilisation of existing Alispan roof system features for proven weather protection and aesthetic continuity.
- Creation of a fully modular system branded as the Baytex Alimax, offering configurability and permanence.
The Alimax System: Designed for Flexibility and Elegance
The resulting Alimax structure is more than a venue — it’s a versatile architectural solution tailored for hospitality and events.
Key Features:
- Configurable Widths: 15m, 18m, and 20m portal spans
- Leg Heights: 2.6m or 3m
- Expandable Length: In 5m increments
- Installation Options: Mountable on a concrete pad or a raised flooring system
- Premium Finishes: Includes lockable doors and options for a hard/glass walling and an internal roof membrane for insulation and aesthetics
This permanent tent system not only met the rigorous engineering standards but also delivered a visually stunning and functional space for weddings and events — perfectly aligned with the prestige of the Credaro Wines brand.

The project successfully combined structural ingenuity with design elegance, providing Credaro Wines with a premium, compliant, and highly adaptable venue solution. The Alimax has since become a showcase model for future permanent venue installations across the region.
