Project Brief:
Design and install a walkway canopy to provide all weather covered access to the upstairs apartments of a new apartment complex.

Project Comments:
This brand new apartment block by Donald Design of Auckland was erected on the site of the Mount Maunganui Custom House. The corner site necessitated a boomerang shape design with a number of tricky angles. Additional difficulties were imposed by the height of the installation above ground and integration with the external lift tower.

A feature of the canopy design is the complete absence of any tensioning mechanisms other than the cable catenaries. This resulted in a very clean, neat installation that maximised the coverage area and allowed for an economical frame support structure.
