Project Brief: Port Denarau Marina, Fiji’s premium marina facility and the gateway to the Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands planned to open a new extension structure to expand its passenger check-in facilities.With a total capital investment of $700,000, the extension aimed to meet the demand of growing commercial requirements in view of the growth of the tourism industry in Fiji.
Project Comments: The concept design ultilised a light weight, high strength, technologically advanced PVC tensioned membrane floating on tall tilted main support poles with flowing curves down to lower perimeter support poles at varying heights to give a dramatic effect to the design. The conceptual design presentation to the (PDM) board for the previously un-used space was well received and subsequently approved.
