KOSCO Theatre Pavillion

Client: KOSCO, Seoul, Korea
Completion Date: May 2006
Project Description: Design, Manufacture & Installation of PVC for Theatre Pavillion
20m x 30m Theatre Pavillion with 15m clear internal height

Project Brief:
Design, fabricate and supply the fabric skin for large Theatre Pavilion to clients concept design.  The pavilion is designed for semi-permanent installation but can be easily dismantled for storage, shipment and re-erection.

Project Comments:
Baytex was to design, fabricate and supply all of the elements comprising the PVC membrane skin required to form the roof, walls, front & back canopies and several amenity structures for this pavilion.

As all of the shop drawings and construction for the steelwork was to be done in Korea communication was crucially important to ensure a correct fit between the fabric and the framework. Design concepts had to be developed and assembly and installation methods resolved to ensure all components went together seamlessly with no gaps.

The dramatically shaped roof, a key architectural feature of the structure, required a lot of detail design.  Constructed in 3 completely separate sections, careful consideration was given to the tensioning mechanisms to ensure wrinkle free fit and tight integration with the walling system.

Installation was successfully completed in Seoul under the supervision of our Design Manager.
